A note from the Friends and Farmers Cooperative Board:

On September 18th, 2019, Friends & Farmers Cooperative held a meeting at New Leaf Initiative. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and vote on the dissolution of the Friends & Farmers Cooperative. The vote was open to members until September 25th at 7:00PM. On October 7th, 2019, two board members and one non-board member of Friends & Farmers Cooperative joined together to count the final ballots. The vote results were overwhelmingly in favor of dissolution of Friends & Farmers Cooperative. The Board will continue with dissolution proceedings.

As a reminder, the Bylaws state in the event of dissolution of the Cooperative, its assets shall be distributed in the following manner and order:
Paying or making provisions for payment of all liabilities and expenses of liquidation;
Paying back membership fees to members which, if they cannot be paid in full, shall be paid in the order of membership date, from earliest to most recent; then
Distributing any remaining assets to another cooperative or cooperative development organization as determined by the Board.

The board will meet one additional time and communication will be made to the membership regarding next steps.

We would like to thank each member of the Cooperative, especially founding members; those who volunteered on committees, the board, and the Online Market; and past staff. The board hopes that members continue to support the local community through shopping at markets, attending events, and continuing to be an advocate for producers.

In cooperation,
The Board of Friends and Farmers Cooperative
